Illustrated Holiday Card
In the spirit of the holiday season, I was tasked with designing a holiday card for Invenergy that conveyed warm holiday wishes while reinforcing the brand's commitment to clean and renewable energy. The goal was to create a visually engaging card that reflected the company's core clean energy projects.
Inspired by the serene beauty of winter landscapes, I crafted a design that featured wind and solar energy technologies amidst snow-clad hills adorned with festive holiday lights. The imagery was carefully chosen to balance the holiday spirit and the company's brand identity.
The final design blended holiday cheer with a nod to clean and renewable energy. The card was distributed digitally and received an enthusiastic reception, evidenced by a high open rate. The excitement it generated among recipients underscored the design's success – it was not just a holiday greeting but a celebration of the company's commitment to clean energy wrapped in the warmth of the holiday season.
Conceptual Energy Illustrations
Invenergy’s website was inundated with dense, text-heavy explanations of transmission energy and water desalination using renewable energy, resulting in high bounce rates and low user engagement on these key web pages. My task was to distill this complexity into clear, engaging isometric illustrations.
My first step was to understand the processes I was about to illustrate. This meant extensive conversations with the subject-matter experts in transmission energy and water desalination. Their insights were crucial in ensuring that every part of the illustration was accurate.
Designing these isometric illustrations was a detailed and iterative process involving continuous back-and-forth with the stakeholders to ensure every step of the processes and every piece of machinery was depicted correctly.
The final illustrations transformed how the company's website communicated these processes. Not only did they make the information easier to digest, but they also significantly improved user engagement metrics. The pages featuring these illustrations saw a notable decrease in bounce rates and an increase in average session durations, indicating that users were spending more time interacting with the content.
This project was a testament to the power of visual storytelling in making complex information accessible and engaging, a crucial achievement in an industry where understanding and transparency are key to consumer trust and education.
Trifold Brochure
The North Lawndale Employment Network (NLEN), a non-profit organization committed to serving the under and unemployed residents of North Lawndale and surrounding communities, sought my help to design an engaging, informative trifold brochure. With the primary goal to inform its target audience about its varied services, the brochure needed to encapsulate the organization's mission and established branding while being visually appealing and structured.
Understanding the client's organization and audience was my first step. I conversed with the client to gain insight into their needs and conducted an intensive review of their brand guidelines and existing materials.
The resulting deliverable was a print-ready trifold brochure with a harmonious blend of information and design. By staying true to the organization's existing branding, the brochure conveyed the essence of NLEN, its mission, and its services in a way that was attractive, engaging, and easy to comprehend. The successful completion of this project was affirmed by the client's positive feedback on the brochure's aesthetic and functional execution.
Data Visualization Book
My challenge for this project was to present After School Matters’ annual program highlights and achievements to its board members in a compelling and easily digestible format — a meticulously designed book brimming with data visualizations.
My role involved transforming various statistics and program data into an engaging, visually-driven narrative. Recognizing the power of visuals in communicating complex information, I focused on creating graphics that made the data more accessible and impactful, going beyond numbers and words to craft a narrative that showcased the organization's successes and milestones over the year.
This project was met with excitement and praise from the board members. They were impressed by the innovative approach to presenting what could have been a mundane report. More importantly, the book served its purpose well — it provided the board with a clear, engaging overview of the organization’s successful year, helping them appreciate the depth and breadth of its impact.
This project stands as a testament to the power of design in transforming raw data into a compelling visual story, enhancing understanding, and capturing achievements in a memorable way.
